About Jackson County
Jackson County is the home of numerous crystal clear springs ranging from Magnitude One Springs and smaller. We have plenty of lakes along with some of the best water quality available. Bounded on the East by 38,000 acre Lake Seminole and the Apalachicola River, and bisected through the center of the county by the historic Chipola river, Jackson County Florida does not lack for scenery. The Chipola River is my personal favorite water source for good fishing, good hunting, diving and snorkeling where you can find pre historic sharks teeth, Indian artifacts and Civil War artifacts. There are numerous Spring Fed creeks that flow to the Chipola River.
Other activities of interest might be one of the areas 3 golf courses, bowling, sports (college & high school), canoeing, water skiing, and bird watching along with cultural events such as performances by Symphony Orchestras, plays, etc. at Chipola College.
We have a rural community full of good neighbors. I challenge you to find better people than what you would find in the Panhandle area of Florida. Owning real estate or a home here is a life altering investment in property, new friends, and a great way of life. A great inventory of available homes and property await you.
If you are raising a family, what better environment could you ask for? Schools and classes are still small enough for teachers to provide one on one educational support, and if problems arise, superintendents and principals are just a phone call away.
If Medical services are of interest to you, we have a great local hospital with highly qualified doctors and staff, who are the same people you pass on the local streets every day. Our hospital is constantly advancing in various specialty fields and modern medicine.
