About Marianna Florida
Marianna Florida is a great small town and I am proud to call it “my home”. Being raised up in Jackson County Florida has taught me a lot about local history such as the Battle of Marianna., fought in the Civil War. Agriculture, we have some of the best farmland around with peanuts being one of the main crops. We have a lot of livestock including horses and cattle and an abundance of pine tree farms through out this county.
As a kid and still today I along with my son fish and dive in the Chipola River, we find prehistoric sharks teeth, Indian relics, and if you are lucky you will find Civil War relics also.
Marianna is a town full of “Southern Hospitality”. The people here are some of the most honest, friendly, hard working with string Christian Ethics. It seems like there are no strangers to our area, every body seems to go out of this way to be courteous and freindly.
Our area offers good clean employment such as Family Dollar Distribution Center, Green Circle Bio Energy (wood pellet producer), Jackson Hospital, Sunland Training Center (State of Florida facility for the metally retarded, a special place), Chipola College and more.
Chipola College offers an abundance of activities through out the year. If you like sports, they are ranked State and National in JUCO Mens Basketball, Mens Baseball, Ladies Basketball and Ladies Softball. They offer plays and performances by their theater department and regualrly host concerts by renown artist and Keith Williams State Farm Insurancesymphony orchestras. The college is a major asset to our community.
If you are like me, you love the outdoors. We have great hunting, fishing, hiking, diving, skiing, horseback riding, etc. We have as the East Side of our County, 38,000 acre Lake Seminole with numerous lakes, ponds, rivers, and springs around. We also are only 60 miles North of the worlds most beautiful beaches (Panama City Beach), 60 miles West of Tallahassee (The State Capital) and 35 miles South of Dothan, Alabama (a major medical & shopping community).
I invite you to come and visit our community and see for yourself why I am so proud to call Marianna, Florida my home.
